Excellent start to the season for Junda-Banca del Sempione

Act I of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series (SBWS), a classical appointment that has been gathering the very best of international sailing since 2013, took place from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 November.

The Monegasque competition was also valid for the newly introduced MED CUP, the Mediterranean championship that will go on until June.

33 crews coming from 14 different countries battled with one another in the waters off the Principality of Monaco.

6 races were held during the three-day regatta, marked by extremely variable weather conditions: light breeze on the first two days followed by strong gales and rough sea on the last.

Right from the start, Junda-Banca del Sempione showed its potential by winning an excellent second place at the SBWS and a clear victory at the Med Cup.

These results confirm all the good work the crew - made up of Ludovico Fassitelli as helmsman, Enrico Fonda as tactician, Andrea Felci as mainsail trimmer, Lorenzo Carobbio as gennaker trimmer, and Francesco Orlando as bowman - had already demonstrated at the last World Championship where it had come seventh overall.

On a significant technical note, Junda used Doyle sails for the first time, which showed quite interesting potential despite the crew’s still little experience with them as far as adjustment is concerned.

This bodes well for a further improvement in Junda’s performance once the team has become more familiar with the American sails.

See you next at SBWS Act II scheduled once again in Montecarlo from 6 to 8 December.
